As an American, as a human being, as a member of the human family, it is impossible to watch this video, to become aware of what has happened to the first inhabitants of this land "discovered" by Europeans, this land that we gloat over, this land we refer to as the "land of the free". We came for religious freedoms, for space and land, we came to be free. All the things we wanted we took away from the original inhabitants, killing them in the name of Christianity, women, children, even all their buffalo (just to get rid of the Indians). Now we are here in this free land, how nice for us, how nice for everyone except the original inhabitants. How can anyone enjoy this freedom when we killed and maimed and stole and lied and beat and imprisoned and tore children away from the original inhabitants of this land? Obviously the government is never going to make this right for the First Nations. It is going to take a profound effort on the part of the citizens of all races of this land to stand up and say, "What the hell did our ancestors do here? Even now the people suffer greatly. It took 400 years just to receive a verbal apology! How can we ameliorate this horrendous act of injustice? Each person who reads this sentence must find his own way to improve the conditions and lives of the American Indian nations nearby. It is up to individuals to mend this wrong. It is up to people who call themselves Christians to take a stand, stand up and be counted, do something to mend this pain, anguish and suffering of our brothers and sisters.
